Synthetix is a decentralized synthetic asset issuance protocol built on Ethereum and Optimism. It enables the creation and trading of synthetic assets, known as Synths, that track the price of real-world assets like fiat currencies, commodities (gold, silver), stocks, indices, and even other cryptocurrencies. At its core, Synthetix functions through over-collateralization. SNX, the Synthetix network token, is staked as collateral to mint Synths. SNX stakers are incentivized to provide collateral through staking rewards and trading fees. Staking rewards are distributed in the form of SNX inflation and a share of the trading fees generated on the Synthetix exchange. Synthetix offers a wide range of Synths, categorized by their underlying asset:
