Finance Director
The Finance Director is a critical leadership role, responsible for overseeing all financial activities of the organization. This individual provides strategic financial guidance to the executive team and ensures the company’s financial health and stability.
Responsibilities
- Financial Planning and Analysis: Develop and implement comprehensive financial plans, budgets, and forecasts. Analyze financial performance against targets, identifying trends, opportunities, and risks. Provide insights and recommendations to improve profitability and efficiency.
- Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements. Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., GAAP, IFRS). Manage relationships with external auditors.
- Treasury Management: Manage the company’s cash flow, investments, and debt. Develop and maintain banking relationships. Oversee the company’s risk management activities, including insurance coverage.
- Accounting Operations: Supervise the accounting department, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data. Establish and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets. Streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.
- Strategic Leadership: Partner with the CEO and other executive leaders to develop and execute the company’s overall strategic plan. Provide financial input on major business decisions, such as mergers, acquisitions, and capital investments.
- Compliance and Governance: Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards. Develop and implement financial policies and procedures. Oversee tax planning and compliance.
- Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Investor Relations (if applicable): Manage relationships with investors and analysts. Prepare presentations and communications for investors.
- Technology Implementation: Evaluate and implement financial technology solutions to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required; Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Deep understanding of financial accounting principles (GAAP, IFRS) and financial reporting requirements.
- Proven ability to develop and implement financial strategies that support business growth.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Experience with financial software and systems (e.g., ERP systems).
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to build and motivate a team.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
Reporting Structure
The Finance Director typically reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
